Regional Marketing Manager
Location: San Francisco, CA
Zipcar, the world's largest car sharing company with 3,000 vehicles

an experienced Marketing Manager with strong marketing, PR, business
development and promotions background to join our San Francisco team!
Since 1999, Zipcar has provided people who live and work in urban
environments with self-service, on-demand access to a diverse fleet of
great cars 24/7/365. It's a fun, cost-effective and convenient alternative
to car ownership in the city.
This passionate, energetic Marketing Manager will report to the San
Francisco Regional Vice President and will be responsible for planning,
developing and producing brand-building events and marketing promotions,
identifying local PR opportunities, managing local media channels,
building and managing a grass roots marketing team and developing
partnerships with local businesses, universities and community
organizations. The Marketing Manager's overall goal is to create awareness
for the Zipcar brand and service while increasing membership uptake.
Key responsibilities will include and are not limited to the following:
- Working with the corporate organization to craft a comprehensive local
marketing strategy, budget and execution plan that builds on Zipcars best practices
- Developing and managing local marketing efforts and events to achieve
maximum attendance, publicity and growth of the Zipcar member base
- Hiring, training and managing a staff of full and part-time employees
to participate in grassroots marketing efforts throughout the market
- must be able to work weekends and irregular hours on occasion
- Developing partnerships with local businesses, community groups,
universities and local government that increase exposure and drive
membership in Zipcar neighborhoods
- Managing local PR efforts and inquiries in coordination with corporate marketing
- Writing monthly market e-newsletter
- Maintaining reports on ROI, application trends and utilization
- Furthering leadership position within local marketing and advertising community
Key Skills Required:
- Candidate must live in San Francisco Bay Area metro area and have thorough
knowledge of local neighborhoods
- Ability to self-motivate and excel in an entrepreneurial environment
- Demonstrated previous success building a local brand using unconventional
techniques such as events and grass roots marketing
- Previous experience with planning and budgeting comprehensive local marketing efforts
- Management of two or more direct reports
- Partnership development or sales experience preferred
- Effective time management skills with ability to multitask
- Strong communication skills (Written, oral and presentation) - candidate must supply
writing sample
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- BA/BS
- You must want to be part of a fast-paced, exciting organization that is changing
the way people look at car ownership and urban transportation
- Total experience - 5+ years in marketing
