Metro Business Development Manager
Location: Chicago
Zipcar, the world’s largest and fastest growing carsharing company is in need of a high-energy sales and business development executive with a background in service and or business travel sales. We are seeking a creative, motivated individual to lead our business development efforts in Chicago. The Business Development Manager will work with the local Zipcar teams as well as teams in other markets across North America to achieve the sales goals in their market and across the company. This position reports to the Regional Business Development Director.
The Business Development Manager is charged with:
- Growing total B2B revenue and the number of B2B accounts through direct sales to medium and large businesses to meet or exceed plan levels.
- Identification and development of key partnerships with appropriate local organizations and associations critical to the success of reaching B2B sales goals in the market and nationally.
- Collaborating with counterparts in other metropolitan areas to identify and address key multi-city growth opportunities.
- Setting direction and managing a local account executive and their activities relating to B2B accounts.
- Collaborating with the inside sales team on lead generation activities.
- Administering the CRM database regarding all account activities in the metro area.
- Attend networking events and tradeshows, lead educational seminars and participate in conferences.
The successful candidate will have experience demonstrating the following competencies:
- Experience selling business services in a high growth environment
- Solid solution selling skills
- Ability to identify and evolve strategy and tactics to exploit targeted verticals/segments
- Experience replicating sales paths of least resistance
- Excellent written and oral communications skills – writing sample required
- Capable of using databases for managing contacts and overall CRM activities and assessing performance of the business
- Ability to work and succeed with a large degree of independence -a self-starter
- Experience working with med/large sized businesses and/or government entities and/or non-profits/NGOs.
- Thorough knowledge of neighborhoods and business districts in their market area.
- Four year degree required, advanced degree a plus.
