Job Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of this position described here are representative of those an employee must perform. This is not a comprehensive list and other duties may be assigned, as needed.   • Works with other Fleet Team members under the guidance of the Fleet Manager or Team Lead
  • Drives Zipcars to various locations for cleaning, maintenance, or return to site
  • Addresses and updates triggers, system events and car history
  • Evaluates car condition, and escalates issues, as needed
  • Performs light maintenance functions such as swapping control boxes and changing tires
  • Prepares cars for in-fleeting and de-fleeting
  • Walks, uses bicycle and/or public transportation for travel to and from Zipcar sites
  • May hang signage or replenish collateral materials at Zipcar sites

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual should meet the following minimum requirements and qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalence
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and to carry collateral materials and displays
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
  • Basic computer skills
  • Flexible to work various shifts, as assigned
  • Must pass Zipcar driving history requirements
  • Interpersonal skills - the individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things.
  • Oral communication - the individual speaks clearly
  • Adaptability - the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
  • Dependability - the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.

Decision Making

Works under the supervision of the Fleet Manager and Lead Fleet Associate and receives specific instructions for each assignment. Background information and guidance materials almost always available. Work is checked periodically while in progress, and supervisors are readily available for consultation on any problem encountered. Supervisor reviews completed work for proper applications and accuracy.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Work is typically performed at Zipcar sites or in an office environment with some physical demands, such as bike riding, bending, stretching, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and normal exposure to everyday risks and discomfort requiring common safety precautions. Travel to and work at these car sites ordinarily does not increase physical demands, but does increase exposure to risks and inclement weather with associated discomfort. Extra care must be exercised under these circumstances.
