Coalition for Smarter Growth

An advocate for community-oriented development since 1997, the Coalition for Smarter Growth addresses the Washington, DC region's key issue of where and how to grow. Their mission is to ensure that transportation and development decisions are made with genuine community participation and allow the region to accommodate growth while revitalizing communities, providing more housing and travel choices, and conserving our natural and historic areas. The Coalition was founded as, and remains, the central coordinating agent and voice of smart growth in Metropolitan Washington.

Cool Capital Challenge

Learn great energy-saving tips and reduce your CO2 output by signing up for the Cool Capital Challenge. Just visit their website, and they'll walk you through calculating your personal carbon footprint, then you choose the actions you'll take to reduce it. Food & Friends

Food & Friends is the only organization in the Washington, DC, area providing specialized, nutritious meals, groceries, nutrition counseling and friendship to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses. Food & Friends delivers meals and groceries to clients living throughout DC, MD, and Northern VA. Their delivery radius covers over 5,500 square miles, so volunteers play a critical role in accomplishing this daily endeavor. Wanna get involved? Zipsters who sign up to deliver meals for Food & Friends during the week will enjoy Zipcar for Business rates on all Monday-Friday driving and earn $25 in driving credit when they deliver four times in one month. Deliveries are made between 10:00am-3:00pm, and a typical delivery route has between 6-10 stops. HRC is a bipartisan organization that works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity to ensure that all Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community. Zipcar members are encouraged to visit the Dupont HRC Store at 1629 Connecticut Avenue, NW where you will enjoy a 15% discount when you show your Zipcard while helping to fight discrimination and support the rights of all Americans.

Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA)

Whether you bike to work, pedal the Mt. Vernon Trail for exercise, or you're just learning how to cruise without those rusty training wheels, WABA can help. They not only advocate for bike lanes, bike racks, and other improvements that make biking easier in the DC area, they also provide a bunch of resources to help local cyclists. The real benefit comes in the form of discounts at more than 35 area bike shops! And Zipsters are entitled to all the WABA perks for just $25 a year (that's a $10 savings). Just check off the "Zipcar members" box on the WABA application.
