community involvementBeing a Zipster isn't just about sharing cars. Our members inspire us to reach out into the community and make a difference. We're proud to be working with organizations that are setting examples around the globe.
Coalition for Smarter Growth
An advocate for community-oriented development since 1997, the Coalition for Smarter Growth addresses the Washington, DC region's key issue of where and how to grow. Their mission is to ensure that transportation and development decisions are made with genuine community participation and allow the region to accommodate growth while revitalizing communities, providing more housing and travel choices, and conserving our natural and historic areas. The Coalition was founded as, and remains, the central coordinating agent and voice of smart growth in Metropolitan Washington.
Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA)
Whether you bike to work, pedal the Mt. Vernon Trail for exercise, or you're just learning how to cruise without those rusty training wheels, WABA can help. They not only advocate for bike lanes, bike racks, and other improvements that make biking easier in the DC area, they also provide a bunch of resources to help local cyclists. The real benefit comes in the form of discounts at more than 35 area bike shops! And Zipsters are entitled to all the WABA perks for just $25 a year (that's a $10 savings). Just check off the "Zipcar members" box on the WABA application.

Through their fellowship program, StartingBloc works with college students and recent grads to give them the tools to help drive social, economic, and environmental innovation throughout their careers. They partner with businesses, universities, and other organizations that set an example as a force for creating both profit and positive social change. We are proud to support StartingBloc!
Connect with a community that shares your passion for all things green. Your Garden Show is a social network for gardeners, by gardeners that connects greenthumbs with knowledge, tools and resources for sharing inspiration, best practices for sustainability and real-time environmental observation. They believe that more (and better) gardeners help build stronger local communities. And we happen to agree.
