What is a damage fee?
Insurance is included with your Zipcar membership. But just like other types of insurance, auto insurance typically has a deductible. Zipcar's deductible, or 'damage fee', is $500. If a Zipcar is involved in an accident, and the member is found to be at fault or no fault is assigned, the member is responsible for the first $500 of the total cost to all parties involved.
So if vehicle repairs and medical costs amount to $2500, the member's damage fee is $500 . If the amount totals $350, then the damage fee is $350.
