Zipcar App
You've probably heard the big news that Zipcar now has an iPhone™ app. But did you hear all the cool stuff you can do with it? You can find and reserve Zipcars while walking down the street. You can honk your Zipcar's horn from across the parking lot. You can even use it to make pancakes! (Just kidding. But hey, two outta three.) If you haven't yet, download the Zipcar App for free.

As you use the app, please keep carrying your Zipcard. That way, if your iPhone runs out of juice, isn't getting service, or gets lost or stolen, you can use your trusty Zipcard to keep on zippin'. Scan your card once at the start of each reservation, then for the rest of the trip you can lock and unlock the car with just the iPhone. (Pssst. You don't need your Zipcard to honk.)

We worked hard on this app and we hope you dig it. If you have a chance, swing by the App StoreSM to rate and review us. Not rocking the iPhone? Check out our mobile page for what you can do with BlackBerry®, Android™ and other high-tech gizmos.
pumpkin-spiced ziptrips from $7/hr
Zipcar Pumpkin
Fall rules. You get to carve pumpkins, go apple picking and dress up like a zombie (you know, for the kids.) You also get to take Ziptrips starting at just $7/hr. Yup, our low hourly rates are hanging out through the fall. So carve a Z into your pumpkin to celebrate! Then reserve a Zipcar, grab some pals and have some fall fun. Go apple picking, browse a colorful farmer's market or zip to the grocery store to stock up on candy. (It's not for you. It's for the trick-or-treaters. Yeah, that's it.) Book your Ziptrip now. Just sort by price on the reservations page to find the best deal.
just touch my cheek before you leave
You spend a nice few hours hanging out with your Zipcar and then what? You're just gonna leave without saying goodbye?? I guess that Ziptrip didn't mean as much to you as it did to us. (Sigh.) We'll forgive you as long as you remember to scan out with your Zipcard at the end of your reservation. Just a quick little kiss goodbye is all we ask for. You see, if you just leave and forget to scan out, then you might get charged a late fee, and we might start binging on Chunky Monkey and asking our friends if you really like us, and then no one's happy. So scan out, pretty please. (If you're using the Zipcar App for the iPhone or iPod touch®, you can lock up with the virtual key fob and skip this step.)
set us up with your friend
Your friends have probably seen Zipcars around town (looking pretty shiny, if we do say so ourselves). Maybe they've even wondered what we're like. (Cute, fun and reliable? Sounds like a keeper.) So how about getting us crazy kids together? Refer a friend to Zipcar and it could be a long-term relationship. You'll get credit for hooking us up, $50 driving credit to be exact. (And that's $50 for every friend you refer who becomes a member.) Sound good? Then refer a friend now. And if it all works out, we'll invite you to the wedding.

This newsletter's super Zipster is Peter P.!  Don't call him a newbie though, 'cause in just six months of membership, Peter has used the IVR system to successfully extend his reservations and has a perfect record returning his Zipcars on time.  Last month, Peter gave our member hotline (866.4ZIPCAR) a call to report that Tacoma Taggart had been left with his lights on. He flicked them off and helped assure the next Zipster a worry-free reservation. You rock Peter, so have a blast Ziptripping on the $100 driving credits you've earned as this month's Zipster PDX Shooting Star!
mondaymanic monday halloween edition!
Fancy some drive time on us? Join in our monthly Manic Monday contest and decipher which Zipcars are described in either of the following 2 spooky clues. If you know the answer, reserve the car (for at least one hour) on the third Monday of the month (October 19) and you'll win $15 in driving credits*! You'll receive an email after your reservation, verifying your trivia talent.

Zipcar #1:
First name of man who went to spend a weekend with his girlfriend in a cabin in the woods, stumbled across a book with teeth, lost and then fought his own hand, battled a demon in a fruit cellar and was sent back in time to the middle ages. Fortunately for him, he had his broomstick.

Zipcar #2:
Name of a poet who inspired Kayzer Soze to torment Benjamin Buttons and Red from Shawshank in a movie whose title was misspelled with a number.

*Contest is restricted to personal drivers only. Members are eligible to win by reserving 1 riddled Zipcar per month. Reservations will be billed at normal rates.
parkingthe ins and outs of polite parking
Does the good karma of car sharing result in luck with finding parking spaces? Unfortunately not if that space belongs to another Zipcar. Each designated Zipcar parking spot throughout the greater Portland Metro area is unique to just one vehicle, so be courteous to your fellow Zipsters (avoiding bad karma and possible towing) and be sure to steer clear of reserved car-sharing spots that belong to the other cars. We can't promise you'll find a spot that's superclose to the front door, but we'll keep our fingers crossed that the rain cloud will hold off for your walk inside.
