New Zipcars to provide access to a sustainable and cost effective alternative to car ownership for students, faculty, staff and community members

LAS VEGAS – September 3, 2014 – Today, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) launched a partnership with Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, to offer Zipcar’s car sharing service to students, faculty and staff on campus, as well as community members. Two vehicles, a Toyota Prius and Ford Focus, are available for use by the hour or the day, providing a convenient and cost-saving alternative to car ownership.

Partnership with City of Palo Alto put Zipcars in city-owned parking lots, making getting around in a car more sustainable, cost effective and convenient

SAN FRANCISCO (August 27, 2014) – Zipcar and the City of Palo Alto have partnered to expand car sharing in the city with the addition of 10 new Zipcars at four city-owned parking facilities within the Downtown Parking Assessment District.  Zipcar currently has more than 50 vehicles on the campus of Stanford University, where it has operated since 2011, and more than 1,400 vehicles in the greater Bay Area region.

Zipcar and University of California, Davis support largest planned zero net energy community, West Village, with a sustainable transportation option for residents and students 18+

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – August 25, 2014 – Zipcar today announced the introduction of a 2014 Honda Fit battery electric vehicle (EV), located at The University of California, Davis’(UC Davis)  West Village, the largest planned zero net energy community in the United States. In the course of a year, the community is designed to generate as much energy as it consumes. The low-carbon electric vehicle is designed to help address one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions – vehicle usage.

No garage, no problem as residents have “wheels when they want them” through two Zipcars parked onsite

SEATTLE (August 5, 2014) – As residents open the doors to their new apartments in the heart of the Rainier Valley, there’s one less key on their keychain. That’s because this new transit-oriented development doesn’t have a parking garage. Instead, it features Zipcar, whose car sharing service enables residents to reserve and drive a car by the hour, paying for it only when they use it.

25 Organizations Receive $200,000 in cash & Zipcar credit to help improve communities across the U.S.

New service blends convenience of one-way trips with reliability of parking in a reserved spot at the drop-off location
