Zipcar Officially Launches in Montclair, N.J.
Zipcar’s convenient and cost-effective service offers new transportation solution for Montclair residents and visitors
MONTCLAIR, N.J., October 20, 2015 – Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, today announced that its “wheels when you want them” service is now available in Montclair, N.J.
A total of five Zipcars, available for reservation by the hour or by the day, are now parked in easily accessible locations throughout Montclair in popular areas such as Montclair Center at the Crescent Deck and at the Valley & Bloom mixed-use development. The vehicles are parked in designated spots for convenient pick-up and drop-off and can be reserved in seconds on Zipcar’s mobile app, online or over the phone.
The Zipcar Montclair fleet features a variety of makes and models, including a Jeep Patriot named “Cureton” for a weekend getaway and a Toyota Prius dubbed “Valcartier” to zip around town. Each reservation includes gas, insurance and 180 miles of driving per day, making it a great option for those looking for ways to save money on the high cost of car ownership. Membership information is available at www.zipcar.com.
“Zipcar is thrilled to be expanding our ‘wheels when you want them’ service to Montclair,” said Nicole Mozeliak, regional vice president of Zipcar. “Area residents now have all the benefits of car ownership without the cost and hassles, while offering a new accessible transportation option.”
Zipcar’s launch in Montclair builds on the existing car sharing program at Montclair State University and the Montclair Train Station where Zipcar has operated since 2008. With many Montclair residents already using Zipcar in other locations, the company was eager to provide members with convenient access to wheels where they live, work and play. Zipcar members can reserve and drive vehicles throughout the area or in any one of the hundreds of cities and towns around the world where Zipcar operates, as well as at over 50 airports.
“Montclair continues to expand our alternative transportation options,” said Mayor Robert Jackson. “We were the first town in the state to offer public charging stations for pluggable electric cars, we opened a new bike depot for commuters at the Bay Street train station last year, and now we’ll have Zipcar in our town. The Zipcar car sharing service means fewer cars on our roads, moving Montclair further still toward becoming a sustainable community through this convenient, energy-efficient means of transportation.”
Local businesses in Montclair can benefit from Zipcar’s presence through the Zipcar for Business (Z4B) program that offers discounted driving rates Monday through Friday. The Z4B program helps businesses save money, meet environmental sustainability goals and reduce parking requirements by providing employees with access to Zipcar for business needs and other uses.
Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, has operations in urban areas and college campuses throughout Austria, Canada, France, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States. Zipcar offers more than 50 makes and models of self-service vehicles by the hour or day to residents and businesses looking for smart, simple and convenient solutions to their urban and campus transportation needs.
