Zipcar, Metro DC'S Largest Car Sharing
Company, Continues Rapid Growth Through New Partnership with Kimpton's
Hotel Madera
WASHINGTON, DC (September 27, 2006) —
Zipcar, North America's largest car sharing company, today announced
that it is continuing its rapid growth and drive to expand car sharing
throughout Metro DC by partnering with Kimpton Hotels to place a Zipcar
at the Hotel Madera in Dupont Circle, 1310 New Hampshire Avenue, N.W.
With the addition, Zipcar has increased its local fleet to nearly 350
vehicles in approximately 200 locations throughout the region. Zipcar
plans to bring dozens of new vehicles to new and existing locations within
the coming months to provide more area residents, businesses and students
with a cost-effective and greener alternative to car ownership.
Beginning today, guests at Kimpton's Hotel Madera and all Zipcar
members have automated 24/7 access to a Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle located
at the hotel, in addition to the entire fleet of nearly 2,000 Zipcars
in 12 states and provinces throughout North America. Guests can sign up
for Zipcar's service through a link on Hotel Madera's web
site or at a kiosk in the lobby. As part of this partnership, all Zipcar
members will receive 10% off their room rate when staying at any Kimpton
property nationwide.
