Zipcar CEO, Scott Griffith, Recognized at Babson ELiTE Conference

Griffith Named Winner of Entrepreneurship in Technology Excellence Award

CAMBRIDGE, MA (November 9, 2006) — Zipcar, North America's largest car sharing company, today announced that its CEO, Scott Griffith, will be recognized at this evening's Babson College ELiTE Conference as the winner of the Entrepreneurship in Technology Excellence Award in the entrepreneurship category. The award presentation will be held on Babson College's campus in Olin Hall at 6:00 p.m.

Griffith is being recognized for his groundbreaking work at Zipcar where he has led international expansion of the company's transformative, self-service business.

The annual ELiTE Conference is hosted by Babson's Alumni Technology Council and recognizes, celebrates, and reinforces the integration of entrepreneurship and technology. The conference previously recognized Jeff Taylor, founder of Monster.com and Charles Brenner, Senior VP of the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology. This year, ELiTE will also recognize John D. Halamka, CIO of CareGroup Health System in the category of leadership.

Scott Griffith was appointed to the positions of chief executive officer and president of Zipcar in February of 2003. Under Griffith's leadership, Zipcar has emerged as the country's largest car sharing service. In July 2004, Zipcar became the first and only car sharing company in the United States to attain profitability in all of its established markets.

For his accomplishments at Zipcar, in 2005 Fast Company profiled Griffith as one of "Four Leaders You Need to know" and Ernst and Young named Griffith as a finalist for its prestigious Entrepreneur of The Year award. In 2003, he was the recipient of the Governor's Entrepreneurial Spirit Award from Governor Mitt Romney and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As a leading authority on the benefits of car sharing and transportation related issues, Griffith has been interviewed by the world's top news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Time, CNBC, Newsweek, New York Times, CNN, USA Today, Associated Press, ABC World News Tonight and BusinessWeek.
