World's largest car club operator
appoints new GM

Paul McLoughlin to oversee UK brand launch for Zipcar
LONDON (29 November 2006) — The world's
largest car club operator, Zipcar, today announced that it has appointed
Paul McLoughlin to the newly created position of General Manager of UK
and European operations. As General Manager, Mr. McLoughlin will oversee
Zipcar's launch into London, and be responsible for building its European
brand and operations.
In North America, Zipcar has attracted more than 80,000 members and taken
more than 32,000 vehicles off the road. Zipcar is the world's largest
and fasting growing car club and it expects that Paul McLoughin will lead
the company to similar results in the London. By offering the coolest
and newest cars on the road, Zipcar's award-winning technology, and industry-leading
customer service, Mr. McLoughlin will be responsible for building membership
and reducing car ownership by showing Londoners why Zipcar's car club
experience is better than owning a vehicle.
Paul McLoughlin said: "Londoners and smart, forward-thinking organizations
like TFL are recognising that private car ownership does not represent
value for money or smart living and that we need innovative solutions
to the city's congestion challenges. I am excited to build Zipcar's fun,
urban lifestyle brand in Europe and lead its UK and European operations
because I believe it is a solution that can replace car ownership for
tens of thousands of Londoners and reduce congestion and Co2 emissions
in some of Europe's largest cities."
Scott Griffith, Zipcar CEO said: "Zipcar is about providing freedom
to urban residents and businesses so that they can have all the benefits
of car ownership without the costs and hassles. Paul will play an integral
role in bringing our brand and superior product and member experience
to the UK. He will lead our operations and raise awareness that the Zipcar
experience can be more fun, convenient and affordable than having your
own car."
Before joining Zipcar, Paul McLoughlin spent three years as European General
Manager for Vipre (part of VPSI), a transport planning and transport demand
management consultancy, with offices in Dublin, London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam
and Rotterdam. During that time, Paul and his team doubled Vipre revenues
through advising on large scale transport management initiatives, including
the first fiscal incentives to use transit alternatives in the Netherlands
and researching car club feasibility in Ireland. Paul was responsible
for developing the UK's first not for profit Transport Management Agency
in Aberdeen, Scotland. Prior to that role, he worked for both Ernst &
Young and Savills in senior posts in facilities and property consulting
around the UK and Ireland.
Paul graduated from Anglia University with a degree in Hospitality Management
and also studied for Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma thereafter.
He also has an Msc from South Bank University in Property Management.
Paul has lived in South West London for more than 10 years.

can make a positive impact on urban lifestyle and environment. After joining

driving less and walking and using public transportation more, saving
an average of £250 compared to the average cost of owning and operating
a car in the city. Zipcar also replaces older vehicles with newer cars
that have more stringent pollution and emission control, helping to improve
air quality in local communities.
The launch of Zipcar into London and the European market follows three
consecutive years of 100%+ growth for the company.
