automatic transmission
Sedan—4 doors, 5 seatbelts
Special Instructions for this car:
Mazda 3 has a "tiptronic" transmission. This means that it's not a basic automatic transmission -- it also can be used in a clutchless "manual" mode. Make sure that when you engage the transmission to start driving, you simply move the shifter into "Drive" -- and not into "Manual" mode. Check the shift position indicator that can be found on the dashboard to see if the car is in (D) drive or (M) manual. If placed into manual mode, the driver must shift the transmission manually. A symptom of driving in manual mode is that the vehicle will feel like its hesitating and jerking.
