ladies and gentlemen, start your iPhone
|
You've probably heard the big news that Zipcar now has an iPhone™ app. But did you hear all the cool stuff you can do with it? You can find and reserve Zipcars while walking down the street. You can honk your Zipcar's horn from across the parking lot. You can even use it to make pancakes! (Just kidding. But hey, two outta three.) If you haven't yet, download the Zipcar App for free.
As you use the app, please keep carrying your Zipcard. That way, if your iPhone runs out of juice, isn't getting service, or gets lost or stolen, you can use your trusty Zipcard to keep on zippin'. Scan your card once at the start of each reservation, then for the rest of the trip you can lock and unlock the car with just the iPhone. (Pssst. You don't need your Zipcard to honk.)
We worked hard on this app and we hope you dig it. If you have a chance, swing by the App StoreSM to rate and review us. Not rocking the iPhone? Check out our mobile page for what you can do with BlackBerry®, Android™ and other high-tech gizmos.

| pumpkin-spiced ziptrips from $7/hr |
|
Fall rules. You get to carve pumpkins, go apple picking and dress up like a zombie (you know, for the kids.) You also get to take Ziptrips starting at just $7/hr. Yup, our low hourly rates are hanging out through the fall. So carve a Z into your pumpkin to celebrate! Then reserve a Zipcar, grab some pals and have some fall fun. Go apple picking, browse a colorful farmer's market or zip to the grocery store to stock up on candy. (It's not for you. It's for the trick-or-treaters. Yeah, that's it.) Book your Ziptrip now. Just sort by price on the reservations page to find the best deal. |
just touch my cheek before you leave
|
| You spend a nice few hours hanging out with your Zipcar and then what? You're just gonna leave without saying goodbye?? I guess that Ziptrip didn't mean as much to you as it did to us. (Sigh.) We'll forgive you as long as you remember to scan out with your Zipcard at the end of your reservation. Just a quick little kiss goodbye is all we ask for. You see, if you just leave and forget to scan out, then you might get charged a late fee, and we might start binging on Chunky Monkey and asking our friends if you really like us, and then no one's happy. So scan out, pretty please. (If you're using the Zipcar App for the iPhone or iPod touch®, you can lock up with the virtual key fob and skip this step.) |
| we're all about halloween presents |
| Zipcar San Francisco is about to turn four years old! In lieu of getting us light-up action figures or a pony, we'd love for you to meet us at Harlot (46 Minna, right off Second Street) on Wednesday, October 28 starting at 7pm for the 4th annual Zipcar Costume Party. There'll be prizes in a few categories (Best Costume, Most Green, Best Couple, etc.) and two drink tickets for each Zipster who flashes us their Zipcard.
Plus, we want you to bring along any of your friends who've been bumming rides. If they sign up for Zipcar, we'll slide them a couple of drink tickets and give you both $50 in driving credit. To let us know you're coming, RSVP at sfoffice@zipcar.com with your name and how many peeps you're bringing. |

zipcar: members only |
| Oh man, do we love October. We love it so much that we've decided to devote the entire month to our rockin' service. That's right, ladies and gentlemen; October is now ROCKtober at Zipcar. And to honor Rocktober, our street team is out wearing their best '80s gear (sweet Zipcar shirts, members only jackets, and lots of pastel pink leggings are the name of our game). If you're walkin' right round with some friends this month and happen to run into our team and you sign up a pal, we'll give you BOTH $50 in driving credit. Keep on rockin' the free world, Zipsters. |
you're the best around |
| Last month we asked you to tell us what you're doing in our cars, and you guys and gals didn't disappoint. We got hundreds of responses and after careful consideration, we're giving $50 in driving credit to Christine K. She had just about one of the weirdest, craziest and fun-filled Labor Days. It spanned four counties, three continents, and what seemed like thousands of friends. So congratulations to Christine! And don't worry, if you didn't get picked this time, be sure to keep submitting your off-beat stories about Zipcar usage to sfoffice@zipcar.com. If we use it in the November newsletter we'll slide you $50 in driving credit. |
refer-a-friend fridays |
If you refer a friend and they join Zipcar on a Friday in October, be sure to email our marketing coordinator, Lauren, (lsherman@zipcar.com) with their full name, plus your own name and Zipcar number. After she verifies that they've signed up and been approved, she'll give you both $50 in driving credit.*
*Offer not valid for Direct Billed Corporate Accounts. |
let it snow |
| We're giving away pairs of tickets to this year's SnowBomb Event at Fort Mason on November 7 and 8 to the first 20 people who email sfoffice@zipcar.com with Let It Snow in the subject line. Our All Wheel Drive cars love going to the snow this time of year so hurry up and email us already! |
chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool |
|
We'll be hanging out at Fiesta on the Hill in Bernal Heights on Sunday, October 18 and at Westfest in Golden Gate Park on October 25, so come on by and say hello. If you do the supersecret Zipcar handshake with us, we might even give you a Zipcar tee. |
sometimes it's easy being green |
| Did you want to see Wicked last month, but you just forgot to buy tickets? That's okay. As a Zipcar member, you can still make your friends green with envy on the cheap through Novemeber 1. Just call 415.512.7770, click or visit the Orpheum theatre box office off of the Civic Center BART and mention (or type in) the code 10FALL to get up to $30 off Wicked tickets. |
knowledge is (solar)power |
| We know you're always looking for more ways to reduce your carbon footprint (gotta keep that snow coming in the winter). If you've been thinking about going solar, One Block Off the Grid (1BOG) is the easiest and most affordable way to do it. They use power in numbers to drive down the cost for solar power in the Bay Area, and they really practice what they preach. In fact, this past summer, every single one of their employees gave up their personal car and went car-light during our Low-Car Diet! | |
