As a city resident (addicted all my life to in-town living!), I cannot afford the grief of owning and parking a car, never mind the money. I haven't owned a car in ten years. Some days I leave from the office on Boston Common; other days I leave from my home in Back Bay. From both locations, I have several choices of Zipcars and never have to go more than a few blocks to find one that's available, even on short notice. Although we use Zipcar primarily for business, I also have a personal account that I use for short trips into the country (my wife and I toss our folding bicycles into the trunk).
