From the Polar Vortex crippling cities with sub-zero temps and skyscraper-like piles of snow, to recent unexpected snowstorms in traditionally warmer climates like Atlanta and Alabama, winter is no joke, especially on the East Coast.While some are content to curl up on the couch with a good book and a hot cup of cocoa, many of us still need to get where we’ve got to go. So the Zipcar team takes an all hands approach to keep our members zipping safely, despite the winter weather.
One down, two to go. Digging out cars take some time, which we don't want to take away from our members.
AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION
With Zipcars in snow-prone cities like New York, Chicago, and Boston (where we had a record-breaking 110.6 inches of snowfall in the 2014-2015 season), preparation starts well before the first flake falls. Once Al Roker alerts us that a storm is headed for our neck of the woods, dedicated Zipcar social and community teams alert members of any citywide changes, cancellation updates and important safety instructions. Next, we ramp-up our member service presence in the snow zone, at Zipcar HQ in Boston, and at our Call-Center, so there’s always someone ready to help you make the right safety decision whether to change, cancel—or get to—your reservation. Can’t find your car? We can direct you. Stuck in the snow? We’ll get you help. Need a shovel? Check the trunk. Just want to chat? Sure, as long as you’re not driving.
HAVE SNOW, MUST SHOVEL
Our job doesn’t stop when the storm does. We have thousands of vehicles that need to be shoveled out, and lucky for you, that’s our job too. In addition to our regular fleet team, brand ambassadors, member services representatives, even General Managers, all pitch in to help shovel out as many Zipcars as we can. One of the perks of not owning a car in the city, especially in the Northeast, is never having to dig it out from under a mountain of snow just to get where you need to go. (Plus, never having to lay claim to your shoveled-out parking space with lawn furniture.)
