They go berry picking and pumpkin hunting, climb mountains, trek trails, and slink down the slopes. There are tango lessons, play dates, and moves across town. They get married, buy birdseed, and pick up the take out sushi. They drive new babies home from the hospital, ever so slowly. There are vacations, joy rides, and last-minute escapes. If you can think of it, it's probably already been done - in a Zipcar.
Mobile Me Zipcar
Last week I was attending a class in Waltham, and being car-free, I had a carpool buddy set up (the subway route was about 90 minutes each way). Monday through Thursday it worked just fine, but on Friday morning it fell apart. He was supposed to arrive at 7:30, but he no-showed and didn't answer his phone at 7:45 or 7:50.
At 7:53, I went to www.zipcar.com on my cell phone and typed in my reservation needs while walking through my apartment building from the front steps to the back parking lot. I hit 'Reserve It' and 'Confirm,' placed my phone into my purse, pulled out my Zipcard and pressed it against the windshield. By 7:55, I was in the car on my way to Waltham, and I made it just in time. I told everyone in the class my story and they were amazed by how easy it was. Thanks Zipcar! ![]() Gena G, Boston
