Zipcar today announced a new partnership with the City of Columbus to bring its “wheels when you want them” membership service to area residents, businesses, visitors and students. Eight Zipcars are now available for reservation from on-street parking spots Downtown, as well as Short North, German Village and Weinland Park through the partnership.

Zipcar is celebrating the first day of summer by equipping hundreds of vehicles across the country with free parking passes to state parks in an effort to encourage exploration of the outdoors, from hiking trails to tide pools, biking, swimming and everything in between. Zipcar has been a long-time supporter of state parks, with an active community of adventure-seeking members.

Vehicles with free park passes are available in five states: Colorado, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Oregon, and Washington.

Zipcar and the City of New York, today announced two major initiatives that will soon make car sharing available in more neighborhoods and to more individuals throughout the city while reducing the need for personal vehicle ownership. 

Through participation in the Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) car-sharing pilot, Zipcar will expand its presence in New York City with an additional 116 on-street and municipal parking lot locations, consisting of 228 parking spaces dedicated specifically for Zipcars.

Today, Zipcar released the findings of a new study conducted by KRC Research, revealing that Americans are spending twice as much as they think on their personal cars.

Survey respondents reported spending $345 a month on their personal car, while a AAA survey shows they’re spending more than twice as much ($706 monthly).

Zipcar has launched its second annual #MAKEorBREAKweekend marketing campaign, encouraging new couples across the country to put their relationships to the test this weekend (Feb. 9 – 11) by going on their first road trip together. The campaign encourages road trippers to "make it or break it” before getting into the potentially messy gray area of Feb. 14.

According to a survey conducted by the car-sharing provider, more than half of Americans ages 18-34 feel that the first day or overnight trip is a good test of a new relationship.
