As the strictest lockdown restrictions began to ease, in June we asked Zipcar for Business members their plans, views and priorities as their businesses readied for re-opening. Here's their take on the opportunities - and challenges - ahead.

Members said finding new revenue streams has been key for survival.  You've probably seen your local pubs and cafes start selling essential food items, houseware and even plants as they start to diversify too. Businesses who have been able to source additional items from their suppliers have been able to offer loyal customers a new, even if temporary experience which has enhanced their reputation locally.

Our members said streamlining processes and reducing costs has been the most effective way for businesses to save money. From implementing digital CRM systems to restructuring teams, it has been a lot for employees to get their heads round very quickly. Unfortunately this has left many businesses with the tough decision to let some employees go or have been able to place them on furlough until they are able to fully re-open.

Online selling has also become a major change for many businesses across the UK. No longer a 'nice to have', a digital presence has been vital to keep customers connected with businesses during these changing times, and allow businesses to continue sell whilst physical stores have been unable to open. Many businesses have been learning as they go and consumers seem to have been willing to wait for extended periods of time to get products.
