Zipcar members and employees come from all different backgrounds and communities – including a large portion of the LGBTQ+ community. And we know that the summer of events recognising this community still won’t be the same in 2021, so we wanted to do something to celebrate our LGBTQ+ members, teams and allies.

That’s why we’re giving you the chance to design a car that’ll celebrate our LGBTQ+ community! Submit your entries before midnight Sunday 9th May, and the winner will receive £250 driving credit and have their winning design live on 10 of our Flex cars from June 2021 onwards!

Why are we doing this?

Zipcar is on a mission to enable simple and responsible living. That means not only looking after the environment we operate in, but the people in our communities too. Equality shouldn’t be up for debate. That’s why Zipcar was an early supporter of LGBTQ+ organisations and equal rights and we continue to show our support at events, through community engagement and in how we do business every day. We believe people can overcome anything on their own - but we’ll always be stronger together.

Where can I get the design template from?

We’ve created a template based on the vehicle type that will be branded. You can download the template here. We get that a lot of people don’t have access to a printer so you don’t have to use the template to submit your designs, but it might be easier!

Which bits of the car can I design?

Take a look at the template; even if you don’t use this for your designs it’ll show you what can/can’t be branded. Do note the roof and wingmirrors will not have branding. The design should also be flat (i.e. nothing sticking out from the car!)

Where do I submit my design/s?

Upload a photo or a scan of your designs to our form here. Just make sure you do so before midnight Sunday 9th May 2021.

What’s the judging criteria?

Our panel of judges will select a winner based on the below criteria:
1 – Creativity. The winning design will show creative flair, and be fun!
2 – Celebrate. The design will be a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, and respectful too.
3 – Connect. The design should complement and represent the Zipcar brand and branding too.

Who’s picking the winner?

We have a panel of judges who will come together to select our winner, based on the criteria. Members on the panel include Zipcar employees and Zipcar members. They’re a mix of gender and backgrounds, but are all LGBTQ+ to ensure that the winning design represents this community.

Competition terms and conditions

Entrants must be Zipcar UK residents and can be members, non-members or employees. They must submit their entries before midnight Sunday 9th May 2021. By giving us your details you agree to us contacting you about your entry, but any personal data relating to the winner or any entrant will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and we will not add your details to any marketing databases unless you ask to be added.

Winners will be selected based on the judging criteria and overall suitability of the design. The judges will select the winner, but final design will be subject to Zipcar approval (for practicality and branding purposes). Designs are subject to amendments and changes to ensure suitability with practical and branding purposes.

Multiple nominations from a member will be accepted.

We'll be in touch via the email address provided to let the entrant know if their design is the winner.

The “prize” will be the design branded onto 10 Zipcar Flex cars (available in London, UK) in 2021. The winner will also receive £250 driving credit to use on their Zipcar UK account only, valid for 6 months. No cash alternative, and prizes are not exchangeable.

Any design or commentary submitted that is offensive or in any way homophobic could result in a warning, or suspension or revoking of Zipcar membership.
