Useful Tips for the Audi A3

How do I start the vehicle?

Fully depress the clutch whilst turning the key.

How do I engage/disengage the parking brake?

Place your foot on the brake and push the button in the central console (where the handbrake would be). To put it back on, simply pull the button up.

How do I disengage the steering wheel lock?

Depress the clutch and wiggle the steering wheel whilst turning the key.

How do I put vehicle into drive, reverse, and park?

To engage reverse, push down the gear stick (pushing the entire stick down towards the ground), then move the gear stick all the way to the left and up. You must be physically pushing *down* on the gear stick.

How do I adjust the wing mirrors?

The driver's door arm rest has a control panel for adjusting the wing mirrors. The mirrors are heated when the ignition is on. To adjust them, turn the knob to the appropriate position (i.e. select a wing mirror to adjust), then once in position adjust the mirror left or right by moving the knob in the desired direction.

How do I use headlights & turn signals?

Using the left hand indicator lever, push up to indicate right or down to indicate left. Using the toggle to the right of the steering wheel you can toggle the headlights, to activate the full beam push the lever away from you to activate/deactivate the headlights and pull the lever towards you to flash the headlights.

How do I use the windscreen wipers?

To operate the windscreen wipers, use the lever to the right of the steering wheel. Push the lever up to engage the wipers and further up for faster speeds.

How to Release the Fuel Door?

To open the flap, unlock the central locking on the car and push on the left-hand side of the flap. It will spring open.

How do I release boot?

Press the release catch on the boot lid - it is located above the number plate and below the Audi symbol.

Please note that instead of a handbrake lever the new Audi A3 has an electric handbrake button. To release it, put your foot on the brake and push the button in the central console (where the handbrake would be). To put it back on simply pull the button up.
