Zipcar Now Arriving at Boston Logan International Airport

Boston, Mass. – October 3, 2013 –Zipcar, Inc., the world’s leading car sharing network, today announced it is expanding its airport access to Logan International Airport in Boston, bringing convenience, freedom and a little zip to air travel.

With this expansion, Zipcar is now providing members not only with wheels when they want them, but also where they want them when they travel with vehicles available by the hour. The addition of Logan International Airport comes on the heels of Zipcar’s launch at London Heathrow Airport earlier this week. A Zipcar membership provides Zipsters global access to over 10,000 vehicles at airports and cities in the US, Canada, the UK, Spain and Austria.

"What better way to open our new Rental Car Center than to welcome Zipcar, which started 13 years ago in Massachusetts," said Ed Freni, Massport’s Director of Aviation. "By having all rental car companies in one building, we increase customer service and the unified clean fuel bus system reduces emissions. Zipcar provide more choices for our passengers and our neighbors."

Five Zipcars, including a Mazda 3 named “Manic”, Ford Escape “Masterly” and Honda Civic “Spach” are located in Zipcar-branded parking spaces adjacent to the Avis Car Rental pick-up facility at Logan International Airport. Zipsters can hit the road immediately after exiting a flight, without any paperwork, lines or extra fees, and enjoy additional time saving amenities such as E-ZPass readers for tolls.

“Nearly two out of three recently surveyed Zipcar members indicated that they were likely to use Zipcar at an airport,” said Zipcar President, Mark Norman. “We take great pride in delivering on the desires of our members and as such are thrilled to be able to expand our simple and convenient offerings to include the hometown airport of Zipcar’s global headquarters.”

Zipcars in airport locations can be reserved by all Zipcar members age 21 and up, including residents of areas near the airport, Logan employees, guests of nearby hotels, as well as airline crews and those traveling to the airport for business or pleasure. As with all Zipcar reservations, gas, insurance and 180 miles per day are included.

The cost to reserve Zipcar vehicles at Logan International Airport starts from $10 per hour or $75 per day. Zipcar vehicles travel round trip, so require pick-up and returns to the same location.
