Zipcar’s Most Flexible Service Yet with One-way Option Launches in Seattle

Zipcar’s new comprehensive mobility solution will give Seattle Zipcar members the option to take vehicles round-trip or one-way, with parking included

Jun 22, 2016

Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, today announced that it has launched a suite of new features to its service in Seattle including the ability to take vehicles one-way. These new features blend the best of Zipcar’s round-trip model — guaranteed parking, more than 60 vehicle types and advanced reservations — with the spontaneity and freedom of new flexible features.

Zipcar’s new flexible service will allow members in the Seattle area to:

•  Choose the destination: Designated vehicles can be used either one-way or round trip, with parking included, providing members a variety of trip options.

•  Change destination mid-trip: Members can reserve a vehicle that can be returned to a different end destination as plans change during a trip, providing the freedom to enjoy the journey.

•  Extend reservations: Members can continue the trip for as long as they choose.

“The ‘most flexible Zipcar yet’ is the perfect addition to our service in Seattle,” said Chandra Morando, Zipcar Seattle general manager. “Whether our members want to take a car from their home in Bellevue to Capitol Hill or SeaTac Airport or from Southeast Seattle to Downtown for some shopping or an event, Zipcar’s new flexible offering will equip our members with more freedom and spontaneity, while also benefitting the city as it works to enhance mobility in Seattle.”

At launch, Zipcar’s new offering will consist of 100 Honda vehicles, including the Honda Fit and Honda Civic. As a trusted mobility partner, additional Honda vehicles will be added into the service as it evolves. The 100 Zipcars are now available for reservation and are parked in easily accessible locations, including Capitol Hill, Southeast Seattle, Downtown, Belltown, South Lake Union, U-District, West Seattle, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and more.

Zipcar’s new flexible features build on the company’s presence in Seattle, where now nearly 500 Zipcars are available in nearly 200 locations in the greater Seattle area. Zipcars also live at universities, businesses and growing walkable suburban downtowns in Redmond, Bellevue, Tacoma, and Olympia. Zipcar members can reserve and drive vehicles throughout greater Seattle or in any one of the hundreds of cities and towns or more than 60 airports around the world where Zipcar operates. To join and get on the road in minutes, download the Zipcar mobile app.
