kaye ceille

kaye ceille

president

We are thrilled to have Kaye in the driver's seat at Zipcar. She became President in February 2014, bringing to her new position nearly two decades worth of experience at Avis Budget Group (Zipcar's parent company), living in numerous Zipcar cities. Most recently she served as the Managing Director, United Kingdom, where she oversaw all aspects of the Avis Budget Group's UK operations, including customer service and fleet management; two things near and dear to Zipcar's heart. Before that, Kaye was Senior Vice President of International Sales and Marketing for North America. She has held numerous other roles during her career at Avis Budget Group in global partnerships, travel industry relations, sales, and business development. So when it comes to putting people behind the wheel, Kaye is second to none.

Kaye received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, and earned a Masters degree in business administration from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois.

Kaye's favorite Zipcar is Jeep Patriot "Janell", which lives right outside the Zipcar HQ, and her favorite Ziptrip is any that allows her to explore the great neighborhoods in her new home of Boston.

lesley mottla

Lesley Mottla

executive vice president, product & member experience

Lesley and her team are the behind-the-scenes masterminds who take a people-centered approach to improve, design and innovate the Zipcar member experience across all touch points and supporting systems—from mobile to web to member support to the Zipcar itself. Among many other cool experiences, Lesley led the charge in creating Zipcar's smart phone applications, making it possible for the rest of us to reserve a Zipcar and honk its horn from across the parking lot.

Prior to Zipcar, Lesley was part of the Microsoft Office Product Group and held key product management and marketing roles at Groove Networks. Earlier on, working in an international service design consultancy, she led cross-discipline teams to design and deliver innovative, service-focused, simple experiences for all kinds of consumers and for global clients with complex, multi-channel service delivery systems like BMW, Sheraton, Weight Watchers and AT&T.

Her passion for developing and delivering great experiences for people is matched by her personal enthusiasm for new experiences. She's co-founded an art studio, volunteers each year internationally, and participates on the board of local non-profits aimed at addressing problems and opportunities impacting the world's poorest countries.

Lesley is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), and earned her MBA from Northeastern University.

brian harrington

Brian Harrington

executive vice president & chief marketing officer

While we may not always believe Brian when he expounds upon his good taste in music, we do trust him leading our marketing and communication teams. As Zipcar's chief marketing guru, he is a seasoned leader who is passionate about our ever evolving efforts, including global brand building, member acquisition, social media, public relations and delivering new innovative products and services to further enhance the member experience.

Prior to joining the Zipcar team, Brian had his own consultancy called Little Harbor Group. He has held leadership roles at Boathouse, a brand communications agency, and I'm in!, a leisure travel website that he co-founded. He was a member of the founding executive teams of Upromise and Connection to eBay, and has held senior roles in sales and marketing at EF Education. Earlier in his career he worked in global marketing for Sheraton Hotels and for Hill, Holliday Advertising.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College, as well as an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

andrew kupiec

andrew kupiec

vice president, sales & operations

Who gets to lead Zipcar’s next phase of growth and expansion? This guy. As Avis Budget Group’s former Senior Director of Sales for the Eastern US, and leader of Southeast Area Operations, Andrew has just a little bit of experience growing and managing fleets of thousands of vehicles (OK, seriously, a ton of experience).

We’re pumped to have Andrew’s leadership in sales and operations, as it was instrumental to achieving growth and world-class customer service in his prior roles at the Avis Budget Group.

Before he made his way to the big wide world of automobiles, Andrew worked in wireless technology as Regional General Manager with Clearwire Corporation. He also spent over 6 years with Cintas Corporation in various sales and operational leadership roles.

Andrew holds a bachelors degree from the University of Pittsburgh and is finalizing a Masters of Science at Cabrini University.

gretchen effgen

gretchen effgen

vice president, strategy & corporate development

We were lucky enough to have Gretchen join Zipcar in 2010 as Director of Business Development, and we’re even luckier she’s expanding her impact our strategy development and planning goals. She’s developed critical partnerships with a whole slew of folks, including auto manufacturers, developers, and suppliers. This resulted in Zipcar’s university partnership with Ford Motor Company and an alternative fuel vehicle partnership with American Honda.

Before arriving at Zipcar, Gretchen consulted on global expansion for a variety of industry sectors – including creative, technology, and finance – and companies of varying size, from start-ups to large multinational firms. Gretchen spent her early career working on international policy issues with a focus on Asia.

Gretchen is a graduate of Tulane University and holds an MBA from London Business School. She was awarded the US Presidential Management Fellowship in 2003 and, because we can’t tout her awesomeness enough, a specially designated Zipcar Innovator Award in 2012.

David Piperno

David Piperno

vice president of finance

When not road cycling (a common passion here at Zipcar) or listening to vinyl records, David devotes himself to finance with lots of experience in mergers and transactional projects. Lucky for us, he merged (sorry, we couldn’t resist) with Zipcar in 2013, following a year as vice president and corporate controller at Avis Budget Group. Prior to joining the Zipcar family, David spent a year in finance at AIG, which built on his previous decade with Deloitte.

Born and raised in New Jersey, David is an avid adventurer who thrives in the outdoors, exploring the local scenery by hiking and biking. He also cleans up well to indulge his cultural side through art, good eats, and music. (Bob Dylan and Bonnie “Prince” Billy are currently in heavy rotation.)

True to his Garden State roots, David holds an MBA from Montclair State University in (you guessed it) New Jersey.
