Free membership and driving credit
We've joined forces with Zipcar to give residents a fantastic offer of Free membership and exclusive use of a Zipcar on-site. Only the vehicle in the development car park is exclusive for residents, any bookings in any other vehicle in the Zipcar fleet will be charged at standard Zipcar rates.
To ensure fairness and equitable access to the Zipcar service, Zipcar are implementing amendments to the fair use policy effective from June 2024:
- Bookings will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to a fair use policy. We urge residents to consider others and refrain from excessive bookings.
- Residents are limited to a maximum of 7 bookings per week.
- Each resident may only make one booking per day.
- Long bookings, defined as 6 to 12 hours in duration, are limited to one per week (Monday to Sunday).
- The vehicle is not intended for day or multi-day trips.
- If a long booking is made, the remaining 6 trips for that week must not exceed 4 hours each.
Furthermore, residents will not be permitted to prebook beyond the current calendar month. At the conclusion of each month, bookings for the following month will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. A monthly report will identify residents who are not adhering to the fair use policy.
Please be advised that one warning will be issued to residents flagged for poor behaviour. Subsequent violations may result in suspension or termination of membership due to misuse of the service, including but not limited to not adhering to the fair use policy.
The first 60 miles are included for free per 24 hours, any miles over 60 are charged to your payment card at 0.29p per mile. Insurance is included, but if you happen to be involved in an incident with your Zipcar, a damage fee of up to £750 (£1,000 for higher-risk members) may apply. You are able to purchase a damage fee waiver (recommended) to reduce this to either Zero or £250, for a monthly fee of £29.90 and £19.90 respectively. The monthly fee will be a rolling charge, please cancel this if you are not expecting to use the service in a particular month. If you are expecting to be a regular user, there is a yearly option to reduce this cost.
