Zipcar gives you access to over 3,000 cars across London, Oxford, Cambridge and Bristol all accessible under any membership.

How much does Zipcar cost?

The Basic membership does not incur a monthly payment but driving rates start from £9/hour and £85/day. The Basic plan rate is perfect to get you started and learn all about Zipcar.

The Smart membership allows you to benefit from discounted rates at £7/hour and £68/day for as little as £6 per month. The Smart plan rate is perfect when you drive at least more than two hours or two times per month as you can save as much as 22% on a weekday and 18% on a weekend per hour.

The Plus membership allows you to benefit from even greater discounts at £6/hour and £60/day for only £15 per month. The Plus plan rate is essential for a frequent driver saving as much as 33% on weekdays and 32% on weekends per hour.

What are the differences in the plans?

Basic

The Basic plan is totally free (with a £10 joining fee) and rates start from £9/hour and from £0.35/minute for Flex.

Which plan is right for me?

Choosing the right plan is important to ensure you’re making the most of the service. If you’re going to use the cars on a regular basis we would recommend the Smart or Plus plans. Not only do you get cheaper rates, you get your membership fee back in driving credit each month. Joining the Basic plan is best for people who will use Zipcar occasionally for errands, moving house, road trips etc. with no strings attached. We know it’s hard to commit these days, so when you’re ready you can easily upgrade your membership to our Smart or Plus plans.

What’s included in the price?

Included within the service is 60 miles per day (£0.29 per mile thereafter), all fuel, insurance, road tax and Congestion Charge. If your vehicle is running low on fuel, duck into your nearest garage and fill up the vehicle – the fuel card and instructions can be found on the driver’s side of the dashboard. Remember it's a shared car, so always aim to leave the vehicles how you would expect to find it.

Do I need a damage fee waiver?

A damage fee waiver allows you to reduce or eliminate the damage fee. Purchasing a waiver won't change your insurance coverage—it just changes the maximum amount you'll be charged if you're involved in an incident with your Zipcar. All our damage fee waivers cover your Roundtrip and Zipcar Flex trips. We have 2 waiver options for those looking for extra cover - Partial waiver - reduces your damage fee to £250 per incident, £9.95 per month or £69 for the year
- Complete waiver - eliminates your damage fee, £14.95 per month or £99 for the year For more information on the cost of our waivers, please log in to your Zipcar account online and go to My Stuff > My Account and select “Add or opt out of a Waiver”. A damage fee waiver becomes effective on the purchase date and time. Waivers are non-refundable.

What are the late fees?

If you return your vehicle late, you will be charged a late return fee starting at £35 per hour (up to a maximum of 3 hours), plus the additional usage. Here are some handy tips on how to avoid late return fees: Sign up for Zipcar text alerts. We’ll send you reminders about your reservation and let you know if you can extend the reservation. When booking, make sure you allow enough time for the ENTIRE trip. Leave your destination on time. Allow some cushion for traffic delays too
