Picnic spots across London
The summer is here, which means picnic season is upon us. There’s nothing better than sitting outside on a sunny day grazing on treats and soaking up some rays. Did you know that London is the greenest major city in Europe? It has plenty of undiscovered spots for picnicking. Here’s some you might know – and some you might not!
Park a bit too far to walk? Too much to transport with tupperware filled with salads, cakes and don’t forget those cushions?! Hop in a one-way Zipcar Flex, all of these spots are in the London Zipzone too!
Regent's Park
The Regent’s Park combines large open spaces with tree-lined pathways, formal gardens, a boating lake and much more. With Camden to the north and Baker Street to the south, its central location makes it a great meeting point. Once you’ve had your fill of picnic treats, walk it off with a stroll up Primrose Hill for excellent views of the London skyline.
You can get there in a Zipcar Flex providing you park on the Westminster side of the park to the south and west of the park. Check out the Zipcar app for more details.
Alexandra Palace Park
Affectionately known as Ally Pally to most, it’s an amazing green space with fantastic views across London. Studies have shown that a green view can reduce stress in just three minutes, so what better place to relax - and enjoy a few pork pies - than within the grounds of an iconic music venue overlooking London surrounded by greenery.
Alexandra Palace Park has lots of places to drop off a Zipcar Flex around the park, so don’t forget the cool box when you’re packing the car.
Hyde Park
Set right in the heart of London, Hyde Park has plenty of quiet places to relax and unwind. The iconic Serpentine offers open-water swimming, boating or just dipping your toes in the water. Covering 350 acres, there are plenty of spots for you to set up your picnic.
Flex parking is available all around Hyde Park but we would recommend anywhere to the west of the park.
Victoria Park
Londoners love Vicky Park. It’s always brimming with people whether you’re out early with the joggers and dog walkers or you're there for a leisurely stroll or you're there to catch the last of the sun’s rays in the evening. There’s lots to enjoy from Victorian ponds and the canal to the running track and skate park.
Tower Hamlets has lots of Flex cars available and you should be able to park up close to the park, then you’ll just have a short walk to your picnic spot of choice.
