Zipcar Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Pop-Up Block Party in Fort Point Neighborhood of Seaport
Ahead of the official start to summer, Zipcar, the world’s leading car-sharing network headquartered in Boston, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a pop-up block party, creating space for people, not cars. Through sharing a Zipcar, up to 13 personally-owned vehicles are eliminated from city streets, reducing congestion, pahking competition and carbon emissions helping to create a cleaner, greener Boston.
“As a proud Boston-born company, we are grateful for the City of Boston and our members’ steadfast commitment to smart, shared mobility. In celebration of the shared progress we’ve made reducing congestion, carbon emissions, and parking competition, we are thrilled to celebrate our anniversary with Bostonians who have helped create a cleaner, greener Boston by choosing to share a car versus personally owning one,” said Angelo Adams, Head of Zipcar.

Founded in Cambridge in 2000 (before smartphones, social media, ride-hailing and electric vehicles), Zipcar pioneered car sharing in the United States and has reinvented how cities move by providing convenient access to a vehicle. Driven by a mission to enable simple and responsible urban living, Zipcar was one of the first to apply a subscription model to platform technology that provides convenient access instead of ownership and aims to provide equitable, sustainable transportation for cities, universities and businesses nationwide.
