Sacramento AQMD Launches State’s First Electric Vehicle Car Share Program for Disadvantaged Communities, Powered by Zipcar

Zipcar is pleased to join the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (AQMD) and fellow partners in launching Our Community CarShare, California’s first zero-emission vehicle sharing program, in Sacramento. The program provides hundreds of residents of three Sacramento public housing complexes with free access to eight electric Kia Souls. “Our Community CarShare Sacramento provides access to clean, free transportation to residents of disadvantaged communities,” said Larry Greene, Sacramento AQMD’s Executive Director. “Mobility is vitally important in today’s economy, and bringing zero-emission transportation options to all residents is critical to protecting air quality and health.” Zipcar looks forward to seeing the positive impact of this program as more people are able to take advantage of access to shared mobility in their area.
